That looks like fun

50 years ago on May 24 1976, the Judgment in Paris took place.

As part of the US Bicentennial celebration, wine merchant Steven Spurrier, invited the top wineries in California to compete in a blind tasting with the top Bordeaux and Burgundy wines. No one gave the US wine much of a chance, as their reputation was not yet established.

In each category, the US wines came out on top. Among the US wines represented were Stags Leap, Freemark Abbey, Ridge and Chateau Montelana. All the wines remain at the top of the US Wine food chain. Some say that day was a turning point in the US wine industry. Movies, books and lectures are still in our culture about that day.

On the 50th anniversary of the Judgement, we say congratulations to all in the US wine industry for you we have done and what we look forward to doing.

Virginia winemakers are facing major grape crop losses. The cold snap last week caused the most significant statewide freeze the state's vineyards have seen since 2020.

Are children welcome at the winery on Sunday?

MOTHERS DAY AT THE FARMSTORE

Bring the whole family and enjoy a day in the vineyard.

We will have a special planting station set up for Moms and kids to make memories they can watch grow all summer.

Quiche and sweets for all to enjoy, special wine cocktails for mom and juices for the little ones. Room galore, tables throughout and space for the kids to run (and get tired!!).

Games and activities outside....a great family day with no stress, no reservations needed and no buffets that run out of food at 11am!

Does this mean you have changed your no family policy? There are several negative reviews based on your no children policy.

Tinto Verano is our twist on Sangria🍹

Rose Lemonade (pictured) takes our Rose' to a different place🌹

And our Elderberry drinks are great for those who are driving or had too many Tinto Veranos the night before!!🫢

Internationally Known!!!

This week we start our travel season, with tours in Loire Valley and Southern Portugal. Waiting for the Portugal tour to begin, we found this--as do all guests--in our hotel in Lisbon, as a gift from the hotel. A bottle of Alento--the wine we made in a partnership with Luis Louro and his Adega do Monte Branco winery, on our first trip to this magical region. What a beautiful surprise to see the hotels in Lisbon only share the very best.

To celebrate our tour, Alento is the wine of the Month at Pearmund Cellars. Come and share the International gem without borders!!
