A NOTE FROM THE WINEMAKER
We are excited to release a new wine for our 2009 vintage. Petit Mansang We have four Virginia vineyards supplying our fruit. Most of the grapes went into a dry and lightly oak Petit Manasang. One vineyard was left on the vines until late October to accumulate the natural sugars to make the Late Harvest Petit Mansang Dessert wine.
To add to the complexity of our wines we are sourcing different oak barrels from different parts of France , Missouri, Virginia and Hungry as well as using Acacia wood. Acacia wood has a different flavor profile than oak, as it is more floral and does not lend to the toasted qualities of the other oak barrels we are currently using. By using this barrel it will make a great addition to the flavors of our Petit Manasang and Viognier.
