What is happening at Pearmund Cellars by Shelly Nasworthy |
Harvest is always an exciting time of the year.. We have been so blessed to have so many customers, staff, volunteers and family come out this year and help with the all aspects of Harvest. Yes all aspects... Bee stings, getting soaked at the end of the night from clean up and yes the wonderful thing we do each day (twice a day) punch down. We all have gone through many wardrobe changes through out the day. Let's not forget the wonderful purple stained hands we all have...
I would like to sincerely thank all of our friends and now family who have dedicated their nights to working at Pearmund Cellars. We all wish at some time we had tents, cots or even more couches in our tasting room as we have spent many late nights working. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has helped make Pearmund Cellars' Harvest and amazing first time experience for myself.
Have you visited the newest member of our wine family? Vint Hill Craft Winery has opened and is a place you really should visit. We already know you love wine, now we want to give you the opportunity to have a hand in creating a wine you love, now we want to give you the opportunity to create your idea of the perfect Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux Blend or whatever wine it is that truly delights you. With the guidance of Vint Hill's expert winemaking team including executive winemaker Chris Pearmund, you can be there every step of the way and, at the end, you'll be the proud owner of the product of the barrel that you've been a part of since the grapes inside are harvested. Each bottle will even be labeled with the label of your own design. It's unique, it's exciting, the winery is outfitted with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment and you can learn all about it by visiting www.vinthillcraftwinery.com. There you can get more detailed information about Craft Winery along with directions to the facility (it's conveniently located between Gainesville and Warrenton just off Rt. 29). Once there, the staff will be proud to show off the place a bit and talk through the process of what will be going on there.
Mark your Calendars! Next Summer join Chris Pearmund on an extraordinary wine cruise on the Rhone River, as we visit the quaint and historic wineries of Burgundy and Provence. The 7-night cruise will be aboard the 132-guest River Royale, a luxury floating hotel. Onboard, Chris Pearmund will be hosting a cocktail reception and wine tasting, and shore-side excursions. Chris invites you to join him for am optional food-and-wine paring meal and wine-theme shore excursions. If you would like more information on this cruise, please contact Jim at Cruise Holidays at Alexandria, 1-866-368-7327 or online at www.luxurycruisecoulnselors.com

Pearmund Cellars Wine Making Team
|
Harvest is almost over and the wine making team has been hard at work. Our wine making team consists of of more than one winemaker. We have three very knowledge individuals working together as one to produce the best wines in Virginia. Kristen Parson, wine maker at Pearmund Cellars, DJ Leffin, previous wine maker at Pearmund Cellars, currently Wine Maker at Vint Hill Craft Winery, and Jef Stebben, Wine Maker at The Winery at LaGrange. Let us not forget about Chris Pearmund. Chris is an excellent mentor to all three team members and he continues to provide his experience and knowledge as the wines are being crafted.
Each of our winemakers have extensive knowledge of wine making and all come from many different backgrounds. We are excited about having a team of wine making working at Pearmund Cellars and Winery at LaGrange as this will not only make our wines amazing, it also makes the Pearmund Cellars Family Stronger than ever. |

Recipes from Lori Tolson

Happy 30th Anniversary to Rob and Lori Tolson!
What a magical night Lori and Rob Tolson had this past week. The staff at Pearmund Cellars gave her and her husband a fairytale dinner. The entire week Chris, Ray and Shelly had a plan and the hard part was to keep it all quiet and a secret and for me it was hard.
Chris and Ray decided on the menu, and for those of you who know Lori she is allergic to garlic, the gentleman had a task at hand. I was in charge of finding live music, her favorite flowers and lets not forget about wine.
The evening was a success! Rob and Lori were totally surprised to find us at Vint Hill late on a Wednesday. We started the evening with champaign and lite dancing. The Harvest Menu included pumpkin soup, argula salad with apples, pork tenderloin with port wine reduction sauce. The best part of the main course was that the port wine was made with the port wine that Rob and Lori are making at Vint Hill Craft Winery. The last course was an awesome Creme Brule.
The night ended with all of us dancing, yes even me. Ray and Chris of course were standing behind the bar and enjoying watching the girls have a great time.
What a magical night for Lori and Rob. From the bottom of all of our hearts here at Pearmund Cellars we want to say Thank you for all that both of you do for Pearmund Cellars and for the staff. You both are truly exceptional friends and at the end of the night we are all Family.
