Our
2006 Sauvignon
Blanc is still available for the ridiculously low price of $15 per bottle or $150 per case with
no additional discounts. However, quantities are limited so stop by the
winery soon. Another good reason to visit us is our 2007 Riesling which
is proving to be as popular as last year. And, we have three new
awards: judges at the National Women's
Wine Competition
gave us a Silver
Medal for our 2006 Petite Verdot, a Gold Medal for our 2005 Late
Harvest Viognier, and a Double
Gold and Best of Class for our 2006 Ameritage! You may have noticed that Pearmund Cellars started a Birthday Club. During your birth week, bring your identification and receive our gift of a special birthday glass and wine tasting! Sign up via our mailing list, and we will send you a reminder. You may also want to bring your friends and family to enjoy the May activities here and at our sister winery:

of
Pearmund Cellars' beekeepers, Karla's bee class, and our 2008 Spring
Bee Day on the CBS
News. Unfortunately, the weaker
of our two hives went queenless for about 10 days before Beekeeper Keith
Fletcher performed an emergency
intervention. Since his requeening attempt in March was unsuccessful,
he pushed nature along to produce an “au naturale” queen. Our stronger
hive (closest to the water stream) is very active, however. The queen
is thriving successfully and Keith has already added supers (shallow
frames) for
collecting honey. In
the Winery: Chris Pearmund is taking his winery knowledge
to the seven seas! He is Cruise
Holidays' new luxury cruise
counselor on their 10-day voyage
of the Mediterranean from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy, to
Barcelona, Spain. En route,
Chris will provide special insights into the art of wine making,
distinguishing fine wines, and pairing wines with food. He will also
organize special shore excursions to private wine venues not available
to the general public. Details are still being worked out, but the
cruise will be June 17-27, 2009. Plan your booking now!

On April 17, 2008, the Commonwealth of Virginia
started operating the Virginia Winery
Distribution Company (VWDC), an association of the Virginia
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Because most
independent wine wholesalers will not distribute wine for small
wineries, the Virginia General Assembly created legislation to allow Virginia wineries to distribute up to
3,000 cases of their wine each year. Winery workers will be able to
market their wine to shops and restaurants but will act as agents of
VWDC when placing orders and making wholesale deliveries. The VWDC will
create electronic purchase orders and invoices, collect and remit all
taxes, and submit necessary government reports. By sharing delivery
workers, bonded warehouse space, and delivery vehicles, the cost will
be $5 per transaction. For
more details, see the ABC News
article. |
