If you missed the release of
Redmund's
Reserve Red, stop by the winery to try its Bing cherry nose and
fruit-forward flavors that tantalize your palate. It's the perfect way
to
introduce new wine lovers to red wine or complement your picnic. On
weekends for the rest of the summer, we are also serving $15 pitchers
of Redmund's Red Sangria
to share with affectionate playmates. Our 2005 Petite Verdot recently won a silver medal at the 2007 Atlantic Seaboard wine competition, which included the best wines from 13 eastern states. To enjoy this and other award-winning wines, bring your family and friends to enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon in our tasting room and vineyard. Bring your picnic, try our gourmet snacks, or call (540) 347-3475 to plan a private, catered tasting tour for 10 or more guests. When shopping for summer birthdays, think of
our fine wines and
wine-related products. We now have Pearmund Cellars barrel-top
lazy susans for $65 and wall plaques for $50. The latter can
also be
made into tables for an additional cost -- just call the winery to
place an order. Other gift items include wine stoppers, cork hotplates, a variety of wine education and appreciation DVDs, vineyard notecards, goat-milk soaps, glittery silver jewelry, wine basket orders, Aplenglow cider, and gourmet snacks including Scorned Woman spicy peanuts. For our younger visitors, pick up The Grapes Grow Sweet and Julian's Vineyard Adventures by Tessa DeCarlo and Lynne Tuft. |

Our Process |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In
the Winery: Over 15 years ago, Chris
started the first mobile bottling
line in Virginia. We now hire two
different companies to provide these services, but our staff and
customers help man the stations. This month's bottling dates are August 3rd and 27th.
Stop by the winery to see the bottling line
in action. This month, we are also preparing for harvest. Besides top-quality grapes, planning, maintenance, safety, and sanitation are keys to producing great wine. Between now and harvest, all our processing equipment will be throughly cleaned and tested, plus our tanks, barrels, and winemaking supplies will be inspected. To learn more about planning for harvest, register for one of the classes listed above, under Our Tastings. In the Vineyard: Robbing honey from wild bee colonies is one of the most ancient human activities and is still practiced by aboriginal societies. Last month, we harvested over 20 pounds of honey from our domesticated bee hives. In our next newletter, Karla Eisen will explain how she does this without getting stung. In anticipation, buy some local honey and try Pork Tenderloin with a Honey Grape Sauce. |

provided by Pearmund Cellars staff members. From custom catering to
gorgeous flower arrangements to professional photography, Sara's party
was spectatular. She wishes to formally thank everyone for a job
well-done and share the secret of Redmund's

Many thanks to our
customers for putting
Pearmund Cellars back in the lead for the People’s
Choice Poll! Since you can vote daily until August 15th,
you
might like to show your appreciation for
our sister Winery
at LaGrange too.The staff at both our wineries will share their knowledge about the healthful effects of wine. As part of the National Grape and Wine Initiative, scientific experts from across the United States recently gathered to formally develop strategies for expanding research and increasing awareness of the health benefits of grape products among consumers and health advocates. They identified five priorities:
