Our Products

Surprise your sweetie and maybe even earn a few brownie points with a romance three-pack from Pearmund Cellars.  Enjoy one bottle each of 2005 Viognier, 2004 Cabernet Franc, and 2003 Ameritage for $40. Pair this with a reservation at our five-course Valentine's Wine Dinner on February 10th, and you will be sure to have a wonderful evening.

We’ll also be celebrating our love for wine and chocolate on  February 10th and 11th. For a $5 tasting fee, there will be goodies to enjoy around the tasting bar and an artisan chocolate tasting hosted by Chocolaterie Wanders of Manassas, Virginia. In addition, we'll have a dessert wine tasting in the barrel room for $5. We will be offering three vintages of our dessert wines and releasing our first Late Harvest Viognier. That means a great deal and a fun afternoon, plus you'll get to keep your commemorative glass.

During your Valentine's tasting, request a heart leading you to the Winery at La Grange or arrive at Pearmund with a  La Grange heart and receive a special gift. Since we enjoy sharing our love and La Grange is officially celebrating the holiday on the following weekend, we will accept these hearts between February 10th and February 19th. We look forward to seeing your often, with all your loved ones!

On President’s Day weekend, February 17th to 19th, celebrate American Heritage with Pearmund Cellars Ameritage. All weekend long, we’ll be celebrating the release of our new vintage of our Bordeaux style blend, Ameritage. For $5, enjoy a flight tasting, including a vertical tasting of three different vintages of our award winning wine made from five classic Bordeaux varietals.

Our Process

Harvest 2006 is long over. You may think that our wine is silently slumbering in its barrels. However, each varietal is engaged in a constantly evolving journey that ends in your glass. Right now, our wine is becoming richer and more complex. Our jobs are monitoring the varietals for various highs and lows;  racking, blending, fining, and tasting to insure the best possible quality; and preparing the wines for bottling.

This year, we are also adding a new varietal to our repertoire: Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was fermented in stainless steel and aged in older French oak barrels. It will be an interesting addition to our tasting flight and will be bottled February 9th. So, winter is a great time to come, taste, and see what we are doing. You can sample our new varietal and ask us questions about wine making and vineyard management in The Commonwealth.

Our People

A recent National Confectioners Association survey stated that "only six percent of men receive Valentine's Day gifts despite the fact that men spend double what women spend during the February holiday. In fact, individually, men on average dole out more than $130 for candy, cards, and other luxuries as Valentine's Day gifts."

Of course, we don't believe that's true for Pearmund Cellars customers. It seems like our wine and chocolates are equally given and received by men and women. If last year was any indication, our customers didn't just surprise spouses, lovers, and secret admirers, but also grandparents, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, girlfriends, boyfriends, and co-workers. However, since this year's Chocolate and Dessert Wine Tasting is just before Valentine's Day, it will be easy to see if we are right.

Our Partners & Retailers

Partner:  Masters in the fine art of great chocolate, Chocolaterie Wanders is comprised of artisan chocolatiers trained in traditional European methods. They import their raw chocolate from the finest purveyors and hand-craft their chocolate truffles and confections in small batches to ensure exquisite taste and freshness. As William Wanders learned from his father, "The flavors should be so clean and defined that you can immediately recognize them - even with your eyes closed." Putting this theory into practice, William and Melanie Wanders hand-cut and/or pipe their ganaches and enrobe them with one thin layer of chocolate. The result is a truffle that melts slowly and smooth on your tongue leaving nothing but flavor behind. To test this theory and enjoy their decadent morsels, stop by Pearmund Cellars on February 10th and 11th.

Wine Store:  The Virginia Wine Experience offers warmth, charm, and a mixture of Southern and Northern hospitality. They let small family-owned wineries and distilleries get a chance to shine, yet still carry favorite products from around the world. Wine lovers appreciate that they shy away from most mass production and always have interesting choices open for sampling. Their philosophy of customer satisfaction is: Sample - Learn - Leave Happy - Return. See how your favorite Pearmund Cellars wine stacks up against out-of-state wines.

Restaurant:  Located across from Leesburg's Premium Outlet Mall, the Blue Ridge Grill features crab cakes, ribs, steaks, prime rib, salmon, ahi tuna, chicken, pastas, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Its sweet endings include homemade apple cobbler and cheesecake. Before shopping, call ahead for seating; then, relax with your favorite Pearmund wine and dine in a warm, understated elegant atmosphere. On Monday evenings, wine lovers will especially enjoy the half-price bottled wine.

Inn:  Near the heart of the historic city, Middleburg Country Inn offers eight sumptuously appointed bedrooms, many dating to the early 1800s. The rooms feature exquisite regional decor replete with all the conveniences of modern living, special privileges at the Middleburg Fitness Club, and a rich country-style breakfast cooked to order. With Middleburg's unique shops and first-class restaurants a stone's throw away, the Middleburg Country Inn promises a memorable vacation for an extended visit or just a weekend. Don't forget to stop by Pearmund Cellars for a wine tasting during your stay.

Our Industry

The Virginia Legislature is currently considering two major issues critical to the Virginia wine industry: self-distribution and land-use restrictions. As many of you are aware, last July, we lost the privilege to directly distribute our wines to retailers. We now must go through a wholesaler to get our product into stores and restaurants across the state, adding considerable cost to our product. This is a privilege we had enjoyed since 1980. As a business principle, it created a level playing field for wineries and allowed start-up businesses to participate in a free-market economy.

Land-use issues concern whether local governments can restrict activities at farm wineries by severely limiting events, staff members, and customers allowed in tasting rooms. It is a question of our agricultural industry being allowed to make our product but not being allowed to sell it.  For more information, see the Virginia Wine website.

We are asking you to aid us -- to help us grow and become better, to keep improving the quality of our wines and our Virginia Wine Country experience -- by supporting HB2450, HB2493, SB1062, and SB1205 in Richmond this week. Contact our Virginia legislators and express your interest in Virginia wine, small businesses, and sustainable agriculture. Ask them to help pass these bills. Constituent voices carry, and the democratic process works when we all participate, so please make a difference in the continued success of Virginia Farm Wineries. For a list of delegates and representatives, see the Virginia General Assembly website.
